Arles I, 2005
is an Hommage to Vincent van Gogh. In Arles van Gogh dreamt of an artist colony. In Arles he discovered the light of the Provence.
I had discovered van Goghs Provence in London at the National Gallery. I was 16 years old. The painting made a major impression on me. I remained in front of the painting for a very long time.
A few years later with 19 I discovered the light of the Provence in Lauris, Luberon. I felt the whole landscape vibrating with the vision of van Gogh. I saw van Gogh everywhere.
This painting was painted in Nice, equally South East of France.
